SCPEA 2008 RULES

(Revisions made for 2008 season are in bold type)
click here for a printable version of these rules

1.  Rules will be established each year at a General Membership meeting and mailed to each member in a newsletter before the show season begins. Copies will also be available in the show office upon request, and will be posted on the SCPalomino.com website. Rules will not carry over from year to year.

2.  For any year-end high-point award to be given, all of the following criteria must be met:

The SCPEA member must SHOW in at least 66% of the SCPEA operated shows in South Carolina (8 of the 12 shows) during the year. Participation in NCPEA shows only counts towards accumulation of points.

The class had to be held as a State-point class at more than 50% of the shows held in SC approved shows (- i.e. - if there are 12 shows during the year, the class had to be a point class at 7 or more shows). Weanlings and two-year-old riding classes are exempt, but owner/exhibitor must still meet all other requirements.

A minimum of 10 State points must be earned in any class by an OPEN/AMATEUR or YOUTH exhibitor. Weanlings and two-year-old riding classes will be exempt from being required to earn 10 points, but owner/exhibitor must meet all other requirements, and must earn some points in SC.

5-9 Youth will also be exempt from being required to earn the 10 points, but must meet all other requirements, and must earn some points in SC.

In case of a tie, the horse participating in the most shows in that season would be declared the high-point for the year. If this also results in a tie, the participant with the most first place finishes would be the high point for the year.

Each year a number of SCPEA and NCPEA shows will count towards SCPEA year end awards. For year 2008, SCPEA will point the following shows: All SCPEA shows and the NCPEA shows on Saturdays and Sundays (not to exceed 12 shows). Owners/exhibitors must still meet all other requirements, and must earn some of the required points in SC.

Each individual class high point and reserve will receive an award or monetary prize equal to an amount to be determined each year.

The Overall High Point winners will receive an award or trophy and the title. The Reserve Overall High Point Winner will receive an award of similar but lesser value than the High-Point. To be eligible for the Overall High Point titles, the horse must have points in more than one class. Year End Awards to be given will be: Overall Horse (all Open Halter, Color and Performance classes), Halter (all Open halter classes), Performance (includes all Open performance classes), Amateur (all Amateur halter, color and performance classes), Youth 13-under (all Youth halter, color and performance classes), Youth 14-18 (all Youth halter, color and performance classes), Youth 5-9 (all 5-9 classes).

3.  Officer Requirements: Eligibility of any person to hold an office within SCPEA is dependent on that person participating in some capacity (ie.. helping, showing, etc.) at 50% of SCPEA sponsored events (ie.. open shows, meeting, PHBA approved shows etc.) to be eligible for ANY SCPEA position (ie..Officer, Board, Director etc.) PARTICIPATION is defined as actively working/assisting/showing at the SCPEA function, PHBA point shows or open shows.
